section 8 housing in Sanibel Island Florida

Sanibel Island Florida does not at this time have any Section 8 homes for rent. The main reason for this is that Sanibel Island is only accessible via boat and toll road, which leads to a population with a higher standard of living. That said we have included Sanibel due to the fact that their tourist population requires many support personal to support its economy. Due to the need for this population of workers a non-profit named the Community Housing & Resources or CHR was created to supply Below Market Rate Housing to the City of Sanibel Island. This non-profit was established by the Sanibel Island City Council to support the willing and able workforce of Sanibel Island. This community program was provided to support those with Sanibel Island work history as well as those who due to price increases can no long afford to remain on Sanibel. Currently there are 64 units available for those who qualify for BMRH, some of the units are provided by Sanibel Island Hotels that have open rooms or those hotel keepers who wish to have a more consistent income. Though most units are apartments, which in some cases might be supplemented by a Section 8 Voucher. There are currently 9 Housing Campuses on Saible. They are Woodhaven, Wooster, Mahogany, Belding, Rabbit Road, Airport Way, Whitehall, Beach Road, and Casa Mariposa.
